Torchlight

Carnival Torchlight parade is the hallmark of the Naxian Carnival and attraction of hundreds of visitors ! It is  special and imposing parade whose history is linked to Ancient Greece. More specifically, the Torchlight parade is an alloy of Apollonian and Dionysian elements and reminiscent of the ceremonies performed by the inhabitants of Ancient Naxos in honor of the Olympic Gods.

The main features of the parade are the light (god Apollo) and his pursuit (god Dionysus). For the Naxos Carnival, the Torchlight parade is relatively recent custom, quickly loved by young and old, and has since been established.  Saturday 25 February 2023!
